Hidden Roots

Dave Mallon and Paige Herd are Hidden Roots, an acoustic-based songwriting duo from Mechanicsburg, PA.  

When Dave, a solo performer at the time, took an opportunity to run sound for a friend's band, one could say that's when the seeds were planted for Hidden Roots. Paige performed in that band and while the world was shut down for the infamous Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 Dave asked Paige if she would be interested in writing songs with him. She said yes! Their first performance was in February of 2021. Since then Hidden Roots has released a self-titled album of seven original songs and have been nominated for a Grammy-esque Central Pennsylvania Music Award through the Central PA Music Hall of Fame as Best New Artist for 2023. 

With an original sound that is unique yet familiar, Hidden Roots tells stories of relationships with one's self and with others that seek out authenticity and honesty. The duo performs 50+ shows a year around the central PA landscape.  In addition to their own original tunes, they also like to perform covers from a wide array of eras and genres.  Some of their major influences include Paul Simon, Tom Petty, and Fleetwood Mac as well as contemporary artists like The Lone Bellow, Jason Mraz, Jason Isbell, Wild Rivers, Matt Nathanson, Brandi Carlile and Lake Street Dive.
